When performing any maintenance operations on the cooling system, ensure that the engine is completely cooled to avoid personal injury.
Before replacement, check the radiator fan, fan clutch, pulley, belt, radiator hose, thermostat and other related components.
Clean the coolant in the radiator and engine before replacement. Be sure to remove rust and residue, otherwise it will lead to water seal wear and leakage.
During installation, wet the water pump seal apron with coolant first. Sealant is not recommended, because too much sealant will form flocc into the coolant, resulting in leakage.
Do not knock on the pump shaft, forced installation of the pump, should check the real cause of the pump installation difficulties. If the water pump installation is difficult due to excessive scale in the channel of the cylinder block, the installation position should be cleaned first.
When tightening water pump bolts, tighten them diagonally according to the specified torque. Excessive tightening may break the bolts or damage the gaskets.
Please apply proper tension to the belt according to the standards formulated by the factory. Excessive tension will cause high load of the bearing, which is easy to cause premature damage, whereas too loose will easily cause belt noise, overheating and other faults.
After installing a new pump, be sure to replace the quality coolant. The use of inferior coolant will easily produce bubbles, resulting in damage to the sealing parts, serious may cause corrosion or aging of impeller and shell.
Stop and cool the engine before adding coolant, otherwise the water seal may be damaged or even the engine block may be damaged, and never start the engine without coolant.
During the first ten minutes or so of operation, a small amount of coolant will usually leak out of the residual discharge hole of the pump. This is normal, as the seal ring inside the pump is required to complete the final sealing at this stage.
Continuous leakage of coolant from the residual drain hole or leakage at the mounting surface of the pump indicates a problem or incorrect installation of the product.
